Musical Bingo

Residents this week participated in a fun and competitive game of Musical Bingo. This is a favourite and regular activity that everyone really enjoys. It involves the residents listening out for sing-along favourites such as ‘Que Sera Sera’, ‘Wedding March’ and ‘Daisy Daisy’. If they have the song playing written on their board they cover it with a counter, and so on until they have a full house. Like with classic bingo; however, this game has a fun musical twist.
This game not only provides entertainment but also a chance for residents to sing along to favourites and reminisce about the past, such as past Christmas times with songs such as ‘Winter Wonderland’ included. It is a real conversation-starter game, prompting recall and discussion for example where they first heard the song or what memories they have associated with the song.
Music is such a good way to break down barriers and brings the residents together. This game also makes sure they use their listening skills and quick reactions having to match up as many as they can and be alert to notice if they have been successful in getting a full house.
It is lovely to watch as one lucky resident wins and shouts ‘BINGO!’ excitedly. It definitely provides some healthy competition on a cold winter’s afternoon.
