Riversides Afternoon Tea Party
This week residents enjoyed a vintage afternoon tea party hosted by our activities team.
We enjoyed tea from beautiful china tea pots, quaint floral cups and saucers; as well as magnificently folded flowery napkins and extravagant cake stands. The room was decorated with colourful balloons and seasonal bunting in gorgeous pastel colours. On each of the tables we had mini vases filled with fresh primroses and violets. Additionally we had a stunning flower arrangement of carnations and daffodils, bringing the beautiful spring flowers and outside nature indoors for our residents.
During the event residents enjoyed traditional cream teas with lots of delightful treats such as finger sandwiches with various fillings such as cucumber, smoked salmon, coronation chicken, egg & cress (to name a few). We indulged in mini scones with clotted cream & jam as well as bite size slices of fruit cake and mini vanilla swiss rolls; all of which were home made by Riverside’s wonderful chef. We also enjoyed small scotch eggs, mini sausage rolls and short bread biscuits. It certainly was a feast!
The occasion brought about lots of laughter and it was lovely to see the big smiles as the team brought out the vintage cake stands full of delicious treats. It was rather a decadent afternoon and the residents were spoilt for choice. Many reminisced about past tea parties and similar events they had previously been to; prompting much discussion as we tucked into our yummy cakes and scones. It was great to gather together in the dining room and appreciate an afternoon in each other’s company. Overall it was a spectacular afternoon enjoyed by both residents and staff.
