On Tuesday afternoon this week residents were lucky enough to enjoy some Folk singing from not only Celia (our very talented activities co-ordinator) but also a wonderful volunteer Beth. Together they created an extensive programme of twenty beautiful songs for us all to enjoy. Folk music is a type of traditional rural music that was originally passed down through families and communities. The residents listened quietly as they sang the peaceful and calm melodies; some even sang along to the ones they knew well. Beth had prepared a short briefing before each song, so the group learnt about the origins and the meanings behind each melody, which was fascinating. Afterwards we enjoyed a cup of tea with a selection of biscuits and cakes. All the residents who attended really enjoyed themselves and eagerly wait for Beth and Celia’s next performance.
