Bus Trip to Bullbarrow
Today was a very exciting day as residents at Riverside enjoyed their first bus trip out of the home for some time. They enjoyed the sights as we drove through some of the most beautiful Dorset villages and as the bus climbed up the hill to the stunning viewpoint at the top of Bullbarrow hill. Residents love to take trips to new, old and exciting places, it really helps to spark that sense of adventure or reminds them of fond memories.
They excitedly pointed out sheep, cows and horses on the way, noting also the beautiful scenery and the spring flowers such as daffodils, primroses as well as the occasional sighting of bluebells poking through the green grass. Luckily for us the sun even came out for the drive, with a few clouds in sight the view point was spectacular. We also enjoyed a lovely cup of tea and slice of cake at the top. Overall it was truly a lovely morning enjoyed by all. The residents simply cannot wait to go out again, it was a great way to escape from their daily routines and inspired their passion for exploring. It was lovely to witness their first outing with the excitement and big smiles evident on their faces. Excursions like these are so helpful in raising spirits and creating a positive state of wellbeing.
We hope this will be the first of many bus trips to come; we hope to regularly use the bus to take residents to several other exciting locations.
