Riverside's Easter Tree
Today residents at Riverside decorated our Easter Tree with the ornaments they had made at the start of the week. Firstly, they placed moss around the base of the tree, adding a few leaves and sticks to complement the natural theme. The residents then carefully tied the eggs to the branches, aesthetically choosing where to place them. They then added fluffy chicks and colourful eggs in with the moss to add further colour and vibrancy to the decoration.
The tradition of decorating an Easter tree originates from Germany however much of the meaning behind the tree itself has been lost over the years. Easter eggs are traditionally a symbol of life, with Easter falling in spring which is usually seen as the rebirth of Earth. So, at Riverside we believe that the decorating of the Easter tree may have just been a way to welcome the arrival of Spring; with the new blooms & buds of daffodils, primroses, violets and bluebells and chirping birds, as well as hopefully bluer skies.
