Pancake Day at Riverside
On Tuesday our residents embraced and enjoyed Pancake Day; a few of them even helped flip their own pancakes. This was arguably the most fun part and luckily there were no disasters! They then choose their own delicious toppings from a variety of yummy choices – chocolate spread, strawberries, bananas, lemon & sugar to name a few. It truly was a lovely way to spend a Tuesday afternoon, indulging in some pancake treats.
Shrove Tuesday is traditionally a feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday, this symbolises 40 days of fasting leading up to Easter. In the past Shrove Tuesday was the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats before starting the fasting period and making pancakes became the perfect way of using up these ingredients.
This marks the start of some very Easter themed activities; the schedule will be jam-packed with lots more treats and fun to come!
