Activities
We know you will enjoy your stay at Riverside. We are close enough to the beautiful town of Sherborne for you to visit famous Sherborne Abbey, 10 minutes walk away. The park and gardens are also within easy reach by foot or wheelchair. Or you can go for coffee or lunch in one of the delicious cafes, restaurants or pubs. Maybe you would just like someone to take you shopping? The Garden Centre at Castle Gardens is always a favourite, particularly at Christmas time with its award-winning displays and scrumptious food.
Our Activities organiser Terri arranges outings to the sea or well- known beauty spots. Some enjoy a trip to the pub in the evening or a cup of tea in our lovely tropical garden.
With a greenhouse and raised beds, you can enjoy the sunshine in the garden or a spot of planting if you have green-fingers.
There are lots of things going on in the Home itself as well; from the exercise class to the gardening and the bird watching clubs, flower arranging, quiz afternoons, crossword mornings, craft sessions, the weekly newspaper catch up, music, painting and memorabilia. The list is endless!
If you are someone who would prefer doing something on a one to one basis, Terri and her helpers are on hand to sit with you.
Maybe you would like to read a book, listen to a tape, help write a letter or perhaps just look through your photographs our team of volunteers are always on hand to help you do so. They are happy to spend time with you or take you out (walking, by car or in a wheelchair) so that you can make the most of our beautiful town and surrounding countryside.
